Tricia Kelly: Writing from My Bed, to the World
My bed is my writing desk, and my laptop is my window to the world. For much of my life, I’ve lived with limitations—but never a limited imagination. Writing from bed has given me time to think, to notice, and to create.
In my sixties, I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing, with minors in Psychology and Sociology —because understanding people has always mattered to me. I’ve written ten novels for YA readers and two children’s fairy books, and now, at nearly eighty, I’m launching this new adventure: my website.
I’m a widow, a mother, a grandmother, and a great- and great, great grandmother, living in North Queensland, Australia. This space is my way of passing on what I’ve learned, created, and loved along the way.
Three Ways I Share My World With You
I may write from bed, but my mind lives far beyond it.
Here, I offer stories to stir your imagination, insights to guide your creative path, and reflections to remind you you’re not alone. Whether you love books, illustrations, or thoughtful moments—you’re warmly welcome.
Stories from the Unexpected I am a YA Author. If you’re looking for heartfelt stories that light a spark of courage and resilience, you’re in the right place. My novels, including the Silk Trails and Yesteryear series and Time Slider. They are written for readers who enjoy emotional adventure and strong young female characters, who rise to their strength within. I’ve also written two fairy books for children because everyone loves a fairy book.
I don’t write sex scenes. My books are safe for advanced readers as young as ten while still deeply engaging for teens, adults and the elderly. Every story offers a journey worth taking, no matter your age.
Illustrated Book Reviewer: Learning Through Picture Books
If you want to truly understand the art of illustrated picture books, this space is for you.
Here, I bring together all the key elements—not just visual storytelling, but the structure and purpose behind every page. You’ll gain a solid foundation in what makes a picture book work, so you can focus—page by page—on what brings a story to life. And come away with a clearer sense of how to craft—or appreciate—an Illustrated Picture Book that lingers in the heart.
My Childhood Stories Here I share pieces of memory. Not grand tales, but small, true moments from my life — moments of wonder, fun, laughter, and sometimes stress. Each story tells of my life growing up in a world both familiar to me and now long gone. They offer a glimpse into the innocence, love and the uncertainty of childhood. I wrote these childhood memories for my children. When faced with writing blogs posts I knew I’d use my stories. I would’t sell them as I was encouraged to do. I thought perhaps, as you read, you’ll remember your own beginnings — the simple joys, the stumbles, and the discoveries that shape us all.
